How We Support Growth & Independence

At Heartstrong Behavioral Health, our ABA therapy programs are designed to support meaningful growth across a variety of key developmental areas. We focus on building essential life skills that help individuals thrive at home, in school, and in the community. Each therapy plan is tailored to the unique needs of the individual, with targeted goals across multiple domains. Below is an overview of the core areas we address through ABA therapy to promote lasting progress and greater independence.

Skills We Help Build

Commnication

We help individuals improve both verbal and non-verbal communication. This includes making requests, understanding and answering questions, initiating conversations, and using alternative methods such as PECS or communication devices when needed.

Social Interaction

Daily Living Skills

These essential self-care tasks include dressing, brushing teeth, using the toilet, eating independently, and completing simple chores—empowering individuals to be more independent at home and in their daily routines.

Academic Readiness

We prepare learners for success in school by teaching attention, following directions, completing tasks, and understanding foundational academic concepts such as letters, numbers, and colors.

Play & Leisure

Play is vital for learning and socialization. We support appropriate play behavior, imagination, sharing, and engaging in group or solo recreational activities.

Behavior Reduction

We address challenging behaviors such as aggression, tantrums, or self-injury by identifying the root causes and teaching positive, functional alternatives and coping strategies.

Executive Functioning

These are the kills needed to plan, focus, remember instructions, and manage multiple tasks. We work on impulse control, emotional regulation, flexibility, and organization.

Safety Awareness

We teach awareness and response strategies for everyday safety, including crossing the street, identifying safe adults, responding to emergencies, and understanding personal boundaries.

Adaptive Living

These practical, real-world skills help individuals function independently in home, school, and community settings. This includes managing time, handling money, navigating public spaces, and using transportation.
